Marcia Gay Harden told an LGBTQ+ fundraiser that her advocacy is rooted in her own family, not politics.
The Oscar-winning actress made the comments during the “Drag Isn’t Dangerous” telethon, a broadcast that raised more than $500,000 for LGBTQ+ charities as anti-drag legislation spread across the United States.
“What drives me is because it’s right and what’s happening right now is wrong,” Harden told cohost Adam Shankman during the event.
She went further, describing her three children with ex-husband Thaddaeus Scheel. “What drives me is — my children are all queer,” Harden said. “My eldest child is nonbinary. My son is gay. My youngest is fluid. And you know, they are my kids and they teach me every day.”
